Clarissa’s Bowtique

Clarissa’s Bowtique is our youngest vendor ever. She handcrafts hair accessories, jewelry, and some additional accouterments for babies, kids, and adults. Clarissa started vending with us last season when she was only 6 years old. Now 7, Clarissa and her wonderful Mother Amber are energized more than ever to make the business grow. Clarissa loves anything “stylish" and with her entrepreneurial and creative mindset, we're so happy to give her space at the Hester Street Fair.

How did the business begin?
In 2016, I (Amber) started Clarissa Bowtique when Clarissa was just a few months. I would make her hair accessories to wear with outfits, but once she expressed making them herself I then stepped back and helped her create her business. She learned how to cut the fabric and sew them together herself, and started taking them to school.

What "first" were we for the business?
Hester Street Fair was the first place where we could make in-person sales.

How did our fair affect the business? We really loved the community and we were able to reach a larger audience and finally meet our online customers. After our first fair, Clarissa was energized to do more and more. We'll be signing up for many more dates next year!

What is the process for creating your products? Clarissa chooses all of the patterns, the designs, and gets to handcrafting everything. She loves to support other small businesses and does so when buying supplies for her accessories. She's becoming a better salesperson both in-person and online too with being the face of her business.
