Our beloved Girl Power event is a special, intersectional, all female fair. We are proud to showcase a line up of owned and operated businesses, vendors, artists, and performers for the 5th year in a row —a packed day of badass ladies! We are here to hold Girl Power as an event that empowers creative pursuits and entrepreneurial spirits for ALL women of any age.
This year’s events have been adapted to fit NYC’s safety guidelines: Vendors will be 6 ft. apart, our capacity for vendors and visitors has lowered, and we will have multiple hand washing and sanitizing stations throughout the park. Masks are mandatory, all vendors are 6' or more apart, free face masks and gloves to anyone who is in need, and we do contactless temperature checks for everyone who enters the fair.
Charitable Partner
The Lower East Side Girls Club connects girls and young women to healthy and successful futures, and breaks the cycle of poverty by training the next generation of ethical, entrepreneurial, and environmental leaders. They have been our annual partner for five-years running and we couldn’t imagine our event, ever, without them!
One of the many features of their Community Center is their sound studio for music production and a radio station/podcast, WGRL (Where Girl Radio Lives). Creating confidence and enhanced motor and musical skills are some of the many benefits of this popular program.
Coming from the studio will be the Girl’s Club Avenue DJ’s, DJ Eli, DJ KK, and DJ Tia. Hear their mixes this Saturday between 12:30 - 2pm!
Special Features
Emily Chertow is the founder of @journalingclasses and community manager at The Washington Post. @journalingclasses is a guided journaling workshop centered around mindfulness and self-care with an emphasis on the power of putting pen to paper. Emily created this community because she believes in the power of journaling, the importance of human connection and strength in talking about mental health. The workshops are being held in our grassy seating area at the back of our lot, and we ask that you BYO blanket, pen, and paper. If you can not, we can provide seating and writing materials.
Session 1: 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Session 2: 3:00pm - 4:30pm
To ensure safe social distancing, only 20 people can attend each session at maximum capacity.
*Emily will also be doing a Live IG takeover on the Hester Street Fair account on Wednesday, September 16th to show her practices of journaling and daily routines to ensure her own peace of mind*
