Sivan Harlap of Eastwood, The Dancer & B-side
What is your passion?
“People, community, creating spaces and experiences.”
Name: Sivan Harlap
Business Name: Eastwood, The Dancer, B-side
Where are you from? Born: Israel // Raised: California
When did you move to NY? August 1999
When did you move to the LES? 2002
What is your first memory of the LES? 1999, walking east along Houston at night, passing Meow Mix, the only sign of life for blocks. And then years of Welcome to the Johnson's, El Sombrero, Lotus Club, Pink Pony, EarthMatters, Luna Lounge, Mercury, Pianos, Cake Shop, my practice space on Stanton and Ridge. Basically lots of live music.
What is your history with the LES? I've been living, working, rehearsing, performing, eating, drinking, cycling, walking, swimming the LES for two decades. I own businesses here, have waited tables here, have opened and headlined shows here, have sunbathed on rooftops and cycled around with frozen margaritas, made really great friends here, done some growing up and put down some solid roots here.
Outside of your business what is your favorite part of the LES? The community. My neighbors and our local buisness owner community. Especially Partybus Bakeshop, Kopitiam, Golden Diner, Little Canal - we've all been helping one another out these past few months. A real sense of family. And the Hamilton Fish swimming pool. Go Ham Fish Early Birds!
What is your passion? People, community, creating spaces and experiences.
What is your motto? Less thinking, more doing. Trust your gut. And go to the beach whenever possible.
