The Pizza Potter

The Pizza Potter aka Neil Myers is a long-time friend of our fair and is now a vendor all his own. We first met Neil when we met his Partner Sarah, whose business is The Prince Peacock. The married couple would come to our fair every single week and together would serve hundreds of customers back-to-back, selling handmade jewelry and being all-around upbeat and humorous people. Not to mention they always bring their fluffy pup, Diana.

You would recognize them instantaneously behind their flower-adorned teal-colored display. Once Neil set out on his journey with ceramics, he debuted his work with us during our 2019 Holiday Market and by the summer of 2020, he came back to our fairs with more work and developed extended products of the brand.

The Pizza Potter's recognizable signature is a somewhat naughty-looking Chef

His Chef playfully pinches the side of a PPE mask as if it was a long handlebar mustache. Neil had hand-printed him on teeshirts that sold quite quickly amongst the fairgoers and our other vendors; a great item for an unforgettable moment in time. His work ranges from slip-cast porcelain, wheel-thrown stoneware and porcelain, handbuilt stoneware, and often combinations of each. He works out of a private studio in Ridgewood Queens but still uses a communal kiln in Brooklyn to finish the pieces.

What does Neil love about NYC? The shared experiences with all the unique people.

Neil's favorite part of vending with Hester Street Fair at both of our LES and Seaport locations was what he loves about NYC: The shared experiences with all the unique people who come to visit and shop, and the things all see and say to each other, and to laugh and talk with all the random tourists lost in the moment. Vending outdoors at The Seaport with the river right behind his tent, next to all the big boats, and the sunlight shining off the porcelain platers he hung from the tent was a sight to see. When he took a moment to stop and take in the surroundings, he soaked it all in to exclaim “wow this is nice!”.

Follow Neil on Instagram, keep an eye on new work over on his website, and shop IRL with him at our fair.
